专家简介Dr. Konstantin Kokh holds a PhD (2008) and Doctor of Sciences (DSc, 2022) in Earth Sciences. His research focuses on phase equilibria, crystal growth, and the functional properties of advanced materials. He has authored over 280 publications (h-index = 35). His teams work includes the development of new approaches to the synthesis and growth of chalcogenide crystals, the discovery of novel compounds in borate systems, and the study of crystals with unusual electronic propertiesresearch reflected in three co-authored papers published in Nature (2018, 2021, 2023).

讲座简介Modern materials science increasingly relies on the controlled growth of functional single crystals. This talk presents illustrative examples of an integrated approach to crystal engineeringcombining thermodynamic design, tailored synthesis, and advanced growth techniques such as the Bridgman and flux methods. We demonstrate that even minor deviations from stoichiometry or intentional doping can profoundly alter a materials optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Case studies include topological semimetals like Bi2Te3, layered semiconductors such as GaSe, and rare-earth borates exemplified by TbAl3(BO3)4. The results underscore a central principle: technological breakthroughs in functional materials emerge from the synergy of fundamental knowledge and experimental expertise in crystal growth.
